The great story of Abdon Pamich
On the occasion of “The Day of Remembrance 2026,” the Roberto De Silva Civic Theater, in collaboration with the Bracco Foundation, is organizing a special performance to commemorate Abdon Pamich, one of the Italian athletes with the most medals won in the world. Having fled Fiume in September 1947 at just 13 years old, following the tragedy of the Foibe, accompanied by his brother Giovanni in a desperate run towards a better future, he went on to become one of the greatest athletes in Italian history in the grueling discipline of race walking, managing to win the Bronze Medal at the 1960 Rome Games, the Gold Medal at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, as well as twice the title of European Champion and 40 Italian titles.
