Inauguration of the Jazz Pics exhibition
Opening of the “Jazz Club Rho 2025” review at Villa Burba, Column Hall.
From 7:00 PM on Saturday, May 31, there will be two events that will inaugurate the new edition of the Jazz Club Rho 2025.
The first event of the day, starting at 7:00 PM, is JAZZ PICS: a photography exhibition that, as has been customary for several years, inaugurates our review and is characterized in this edition as a “collective exhibition” displaying works by three different authors:
CARLO CORRADI – STEFANO GALVANI – KATHYA WEST.
Carlo Corradi began working with photography in ’95 during his engineering studies at the Polytechnic University of Milan. He deepens his technique and photographic language by attending photography courses and industry seminars. His photographic experience became his preferred mode of expression from 2000 onwards. He dedicates himself to research photography.
Stefano Galvani, a jazz photographer since 1987, collaborator of music magazines and curator of jazz concerts, has published the book JAZZ – A STORY IN BLACK AND WHITE with Bonomi publisher. The volume collects the shots of Stefano Galvani, the result of a lasting passion for jazz and photography. The images, taken over several decades, capture the essence of the jazz scene, offering spontaneous and intense portraits of legendary and lesser-known musicians. Kathya West, a 360-degree artist, inclined towards all arts, also dedicates herself to writing, singing, and painting. She was a guest of the event in 2023 with her project dedicated to the music of Pink Floyd: “The Last Coat Of Pink.” Writing for her is a black and white photograph of an imperceptible world. Singing is the light within the darkness.
For the second appointment of the day, at 9:00 PM, there will be a concert by the jazz trio of guitarist MARTINO VERCESI with VITO ZERBINO on double bass and STEFANO LECCHI on drums. Martino Vercesi was born in Milan. After developing a passion for modern guitar from a young age, he graduated in classical guitar from the “G. Verdi” Conservatory in Milan in 2002. He completed his training by perfecting his skills with Bruno Giuffredi and Andrea Dieci for classical guitar, and Gigi Cifarelli, Luca Meneghello, and Pasquale Grasso for jazz guitar. He has performed at important festivals and jazz clubs and received flattering reviews in specialized magazines. He has several publications to his credit as both a soloist and a sideman.
This recently formed trio, featuring the collaboration of excellent musicians such as Vito Zerbino on double bass and Stefano Lecchi on drums, presents a repertoire of classic pieces from the hard bop jazz tradition, drawing inspiration from the style of the great ensembles of that era.
The exhibition will also be open to the public on Sunday, June 1 – Monday, June 2 – Tuesday, June 3, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM.
Free admission.
