History

The railway brought cotton to industry via a siding in a shed, which is still visible today. The plant established itself among the main spinning mills in northern Italy and employed 1200 workers in 1952. But the crisis in the sector, due to the prevalence of synthetic fabrics, led to a rapid decline. In 1963 the plant closed and the machinery was dismantled and transferred to Nerviano at another factory of the Unione Manifatture which can still be visited. After a few years of abandonment, the structure was subsequently purchased and renovated to house a prestigious hotel.
