Waiting for the Winter Games – From Bobsled Driver to Reporter. Jimmy Pessina Tells His Story.

In anticipation of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Games, the Municipality of Rho is organizing ‘Waiting for the Winter Games,’ a series of initiatives related to sports and their various aspects. One of these initiatives, strongly supported by Mayor Andrea Orlandi and councilor Alessandra Borghetti, is the meeting with the bobsled champion and Rho-born journalist Giancarlo Pessina, affectionately known as Jimmy, titled ‘From Bobsled Driver to Reporter.’ Interviewed by Stefano Giudici, journalist of Settegiorni, in this unique event at the Teatro Civico De Silva, Jimmy Pessina shares his story in an exceptional evening, recalling his experiences and sporting adventures: from his beginnings in 1967 as a reserve on the Italian national bobsled team, to being recognized as a main driver in 1968, a position he held until 1973, to his qualification by the Italian Federation of Timekeepers obtained in 1969, which allowed him to participate even more actively in the events of the sports world, ranging from athletics to skiing and motor racing until 1986. This meeting will take place on Saturday, November 22 at 9:00 PM, at the Teatro Civico Roberto De Silva in Piazza Jannacci 1.
