The Theater Company “Deus ex machina” presents: “SOTTO A CHI TOCCA”

Tribute to Gilberto Govi. Brilliant comedy in three acts interspersed with sixties songs and choreography

Director’s notes: Gilberto Govi, a well-known Genoese actor of the 60s, considered one of the symbols of the city of the lantern, is still on stage today in the memory of those who loved him. To his incomparable merit, the wave of oblivion has never passed over him. We want to make it known to the new generations and we want to reopen that
curtain to never close it.
We want to re-propose a very funny comedy, with a fast pace and full of jokes. We have chosen to lighten the text of some dialect expressions and the many Ligurian references, while keeping the spirit of the comedy intact in full respect of the Genoese soul.
Gilberto Govi is inimitable for his thousand expressions, for his wax face, for his timbre of voice, for that bizarre way of gesticulating and for the power that emanates from the stage.
We can remember him with deep admiration, reproducing the mimicry, the speech, the pauses and the unmistakable irony, hoping to give today’s audience the hilarity and good humor that Gilberto Govi transmitted to our parents and grandparents.
We have deliberately broken the rhythm of the story with choreographies and songs from the sixties to make the audience live an all-encompassing sensory and emotional experience: a dip in the memory of an age that has passed, but is still alive.

The plot:
Bartolomeo, Manolo and Gaetano are three cousins who live their quiet life in Genoa, until they receive a bizarre inheritance. Their deceased relative decides that the only one to inherit the large sum of money will be the one among them who marries and has a male child. But none of the three has the possibility of inheriting in
as Bartholomew is already married but has no children, Manolo is the oldest and Gaetano wants to become a priest by vocation. At this point, the women who frequent the house resort to strategies to get hold of the money. Who will succeed?… Surprise ending.
