Paths of Peace – meetings, torchlight procession and discussion with the Neve Shalom Wahat al-Salam community

Peace is not built with words, but through mutual knowledge and concrete gestures of fraternity. The Municipal Administration of Rho, Caritas Citta and the City Council of Migrants, who have been working on paths of peace for years, are organizing a series of events for the coming weeks aimed at allowing cultural insights and expressing the desire for peace, in the face of the conflicts that afflict the populations of many countries and that generate a general climate of concern for the future of all.

The highlight of the Paths of Peace will be Sunday, January 19, 2025. Starting at 3.00 pm, at the Padre Reina Auditorium in via Meda 20, “Words and songs of peace: games, readings, workshops for children and families”, in collaboration with #Oltreiperimetri and Leggi che ti passa.
Shortly before 6 p.m. there will be a meeting in Piazza San Vittore, where Mayors and representatives of other municipalities that adhere to the Coordination of Peace in the Municipality will also converge. At 6.00 p.m. the Torchlight Procession for Peace will start, which will run through the streets of the center. To close, again on the central square, the speech of the Mayor of Rho Andrea Orlandi, president of the Coordination Peace in the Municipality. A huge rainbow flag will be unfurled, 12 meters by 10 meters, which will represent the desire for peace of the Rhodesians, the representatives of other municipalities in the area and all those who want to join this gesture.
At the end, we will move back to the Auditorium in via Meda 20 where a multi-ethnic aperitif will be available to those present from 7.30 pm.

At 8.30 p.m. the most significant event of the program, entitled “Let’s make Peace? From everyone’s desire to everyone’s possibility”.
We will be able to listen to the experiences of Shireen Najjar and Dorit Alon Shippin of the village of Neve Shalom Wahat al-Salam, a community that for over 50 years, in Israel, has been a model of peaceful coexistence, democracy and dialogue between Israeli Jews and Palestinians.
