From the Museum to the Reel: How Art Communication is Changing

The communication of art is undergoing a radical transformation. From the museum hall to the vertical screen of the smartphone, from the critical catalog to the thirty-second reel, visual language has become compressed, accelerated, and sometimes sensationalized. It is in this friction between depth and immediacy that the talk “From the Museum to the Reel: How Art Communication is Changing” takes place on Friday, March 6, at 8:45 PM, at the Tourist Infopoint CentRho. The talk will explore how museums, foundations, artists, and institutions are rethinking their storytelling in the digital ecosystem, examining the role of algorithms, the construction of online authority, the tension between dissemination and simplification, and the emergence of new forms of cultural mediation. It is not only a reflection on the tools but also an investigation into the change in perspective: what remains of the aesthetic experience when it is translated into social media content? What responsibilities do art communicators have today? The discussion will feature Marco De Crescenzo, journalist and director of Hestetika Magazine, Erika La Rosa, journalist and digital communication strategist, and Debora Barnaba, artist and photographer, offering complementary perspectives that weave together cultural publishing, criticism, new media, and art. The meeting will be moderated by Mauro Tosi, journalist and president of Nuovo Rinascimento. The event is organized by the associations Nuovo Rinascimento of Rho and Prospettiva 2023 of Arese, organizations committed to promoting moments of critical reflection on contemporary language and its social impacts.
