Harlequin?
ANDREA PENNACCHI
Harlequin?
Written and directed by Marco Baliani
Pennacchi’s Harlequin will perhaps make the many Harlequins who have made this mask great over time wince. He tries in every way to be up to it, but he doesn’t get one right and is in good company: the other actors, like him hired with miserable salaries by Pantalone, are catastrophically inadequate. And yet the miracle of Goldoni’s great comedy will still be born, in an unforeseen form, a disruptive, alienating comedy, which reconstructs tradition after having intelligently betrayed it.
